The wheel rim has a rim edge (3) with a ring-shaped inner circumference section (3a). A disc (2), which has a ring-shaped outer circumference section (2a), is joined to the rim edge by a press fit and by welding. An arrangement (5) which forms gas outlet notch-shaped openings fits on an outer circumferential surface of the outer circumferential section of the rim edge. It is fitted such that each opening is in communication with the surrounding air. ADVANTAGE - Avoids the formation of gas inclusions during the application of the laser welding beam, and there is little chance of welding failures when machining oil or cleaning fluid is left between the disc and the rim.
