Prodn. of imitation wood material from fibre materials - uses analysis of wood pore structure for pore cutting through CAD

To produce sheets from fibre material, with the pore structure to imitate natural wood, the required pore structure is analysed to give coordinate data for the pores as characteristic line points. The data are stored in an EDP logic unit with a computer aided design program to process the pore data and the pore dimensions. The data are converted into control signals for a computer controlled cutter to work the sheet or strip of fibre material, at the surface, with the pore pattern. The pore structure is cut into the material over its whole width, or a part width, evenly or in a pattern. Also claimed is an assembly with an analyser for the pattern to be reproduced as a wood appearance, and a system to store and reconstruct the pore structure in an EDP logic unit with a CAD program. The data are converted into control signals for a computer controlled cutter. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for the prodn. of an imitation wood sheet material, from a fibre materials, esp. for furniture veneers. The technique allows all types of wood pore structures to be reproduced faithfully to give an imitation wood material.
