The overhead crane of the type used for container (14) handling has a cartridge (10) that is moved by a motor (M1) that operates with a speed control unit (11). The support cable (13) is also coupled to a motor (12) with a separate speed control (12). A manual control panel provides an input (22) coupled to the cable control and a regulator (30) controls the movement of the crane. Position (X) and support angle (O), correction units (32,33) provide values that are summed (34) and used to adjust the position of the crane carriage.
