The stethoscope has a chest part incorporating an acoustic transducer for detecting the auscultations tones and converting them into corresponding electrical signals. The signals are converted into output signals, and fed to a loudspeaker acoustically coupled to a pair of tubes (22,24) each fitted with an earpiece at its free end. The main stethoscope tube (16) coupling the chest part to the loudspeaker housing defines an acoustic chamber, acoustically coupled to the loudspeaker and providing a time channel compensating the acoustic characteristics of the earpiece tubes.
