Method of recognising and identifying emergency situations in an anaesthesia system by means of a self-organising card

The present invention relates to a method of recognising and identifying emergency situations in an anaesthesia system. To this end, several variables linked to anaesthesia are measured, and sample vectors are formed from the measured values of these variables. These sample vectors characterise the instantaneous state of the system. Before a real measurement situation, the system is trained with training material containing sample vectors which correspond to real situations. On the basis of the measured sample vectors and the trained material, the emergency situations are recognised and identified, where possible. According to the invention, the system is trained by the reference material using self-organising cards, and the sample vectors formed from the measurement results are compared with weight vectors (mi) of the self-organising card in order to recognise and identify emergency situations.
