In order to obtain sounds with different tones by means of beaters for foot pedals, it is known to use a beater which has two regions of different hardness and to bring the different regions into the active position by turning the beater. If, however, more than two different hardness regions are required, the beaters must be exchanged. Such an exchange is difficult and time-consuming. In order to achieve a rapid and easy change, it is proposed that the beating element of the beater has at least one striking insert which can be exchanged for a striking insert of different hardness.
