Device for automatically returning to a reference position a boom for dispensing a liquid or powdered product for an agricultural machine, of the spray or fertiliser dispenser type, which includes a boom support and which consists of a central element (1) and of at least one lateral element (2, 3) (4, 5) on each side of the central element (1). Each of the two groups of lateral elements (2, 3) (4, 5) is located on either side of the central element (1). The central element (1) and each of the two groups of lateral elements (2, 3) (4, 5) are orientated, with respect to at least one reference, by means of at least one hydraulic cylinder (7, 8). This or these cylinder(s) (7, 8) is or are supplied by a hydraulic circuit which is driven by a control system. The thrust cylinder(s) is/are equipped with a position-reading system which interacts with an additional control system which, under the action of the operator, automatically returns the various elements to the reference position.
