The dental implant comprises a cylindrical shaft including, below the section (2a), a porous surface structure capable of joining with the bone in which it is inserted by restoration, and, along its axis (A-A') a blind tapped channel emerging at the centre of a planar bearing surface (4a) forming a base of a hollow impression (4). This impression (4) includes side walls parallel to the axis (A-A'), is designed to receive a complementary projection of a prosthetic tooth reinforcement, and has a cross-section whose contour is formed by four segments (41-44), alternately chords and arcs of a circumscribed circle, the chords (41, 43) being symmetrical with respect to the axis. In preference, the chords are sides of a regular polygon with an even number of sides, especially a hexagon or octagon, so that the impression can accommodate, in addition to the prosthetic tooth reinforcement projections, tools with a cross-section of regular polygon shape.
