The acoustic antenna of the invention includes at least one surface sensor formed from a stack of conducting layers and piezoelectric dielectric layers contained in an elastic material coating. The assembly so formed constitues a flat panel (2) mounted on a naval vessel hull (5), said panel being moulded to the shape of the hull. The panel is mounted on the hull by means of two enclosed edge rails (3, 4) with a water layer (6) being left between the panel (2) and the hull (5). Advantageously, the coating comprises an elastic envelope filled with a viscoelastic lining material. The piezoelectric material of the sensor's dielectric layers is preferably a vinylidene polyfluoride film.
