The stretcher is formed by a sheet (1) with a number of handles (4) formed at spaced locations along its length. The sheet includes two side panels (2) which may be folded inwardly along predefined fold lines (3) to cover the body of an injured person lying longitudinally on the central panel of the sheet. The handles are attached to the exterior surface of the sheet adjacent to the fold lines, in opposite pairs on either side of the central panel of the sheet. The handles are defined by free end portions of a number of looped straps (5) attached transversely to the sheet to pass below the body of the person. An additional handle (7) may be formed at the foot end of the sheet. ADVANTAGE - Simple structure with improved uniform support of patient's body.
