Cover consists of a Zr alloy containing in wt.%: 0.4-1.7 Sn; 0.05-0.25 Fe, 0.03-0.16 Cr, less than 0.08 Ni, plus max. impurities in ppm of 75 Al, 0.5B; 0.5 Cd, 270C, 20Co; 50Cu; 100 Hf, 25H2; 20 Mg, 50 Mn; 50 Mo; 6SN2; 120Si, 50Ti; 10W; 3.5U; with balance O2 and Zr. The pref. Ni content is 70-300 ppm. Pref., the Ni content is 150-290 ppm with the Sr content 1.2-1.7% and pref. 12-1.5%. The Fe content is pref. 0.18-0.24 and Cr is pref. 0.07-0.13 with Fe+Cr+Ni being 0.28-0.37. USE/ADVANTAGE - In hot water or pressurised water nuclear reactors. The Ni content improves the modular corrosion resistance without increasing H2 absorption.
