The recovery mole-plough has a front carriage (3) supported (16) on the tractor towing point (18) and outrigged wheels (9) set at variable height by pin fixings (14,15). The blade (26), secured by three transverse bolts (28), ends in a peak (27) set just above (30) the cable (32) to be lifted, the penetration, for a given wheel position, being varied by hydraulic actuators (23,24) connecting tractor (25) and carriage (22) pivot points. The rear carriage (4)), articulated on a vertical pin (6) for limited lateral swing, supports the capstan gear (33,35,36) and the operator's seat (48). The rising cable (32), passing over a large concave roller (33), is held against a traction roller (35), barred to improve grip, by an idler (36). A hydraulic motor drives the large and traction rollers synchronously. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for communications cables, Economic recovery with minimum surface disturbance.
