In a first original signature creation phase, a window is positioned in the digital image representing the object. A reference is calculated which consists of counting and classifying the pixels in the window as a function of different amplitude levels. A characteristic parameter is extracted from the reference histogram corresponding to the original signature and its value is calculated. In a second verification stage a calculating window is positioned over a zone of the object to be verified. A histogram is calculated in a similar way to the first stage. The characteristic value parameter is calculated for the histogram and the signatures are compared. ADVANTAGE - Improves known methods for recognising shapes using artificial vision techniques.
