Treatment of faecal matter and cleaning of toilets of rapid passenger transport systems at end of journey. Treatment stations (C) connect to toilets including them, in series, in fluid circuit which empties and cleans residues. The circuit comprises: (a) mixing system (8, 9, 10, 15, 17) for water and concentrated chemical stored in vessel (1); (b) vacuum system (B) for residue storage vessels (7); (c) motors and valves for fluid transfer circuit. The mixing system has a water reservoir (8) and a chemical reservoir (9), each with its own level probe (10). An alternative system replaces the vacuum system with a pump which transfers residues to drain, incorporating a priming system. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for cleaning of toilets on high speed trains and aircraft. Process is flexible, rapid and has high efficiency and low energy consumption with reduced pollution.
