Safety system preventing access to overhead cables on pylon - includes sets of bars forming horizontal barrier beneath dangerous zone at top of pylon

The protection system for overhead cable pylons includes a barrier (10) extending out in a horizontal plane from the pylon, dividing upper and lower regions of the pylon, and preventing access to the upper region. A shaft (12) extends vertically up to the pylon, and is linked to rods (24,25) which project horizontally, at right angles to the first shaft. The projecting horizontal rods in turn each carry a parallel set of horizontal rods forming a barrier preventing an operator passing. The barriers are opened or closed by operation of a control at the base of the pylon. ADVANTAGE - System prevents unauthorised access to dangerous levels at top of pylon.
