The present invention relates to a method for exchanging information between a mobile, at least two transceiver stations and a controller of these stations included in an asynchronous GSM transmission network. The exchanges of information between the mobile and the stations are of the time-division multiple access type and the method consists in providing the mobile with time advance information when it moves from a first to a second cell. BR/ According to the invention, the method consists in: BR/ - transmitting from the controller to the mobile an information indicating, on the one hand, to the mobile that it must interrupt its communication with the first station to send to the second station a first sequence of synchronization signals allowing the second station to calculate the time advance information, and secondly that it must continue to communicate with the first station after sending the first sequence of synchronization signals; BR/ - transmitting from the second station to the controller a synchronization detection information including the time advance information; BR/ - transmitting from the controller to the mobile a control signal comprising the time advance information so that the mobile sends to the second station a second sequence of synchronization signals and synchronizes on the second station to communicate with it. / P
