The tools consist of a first one with a handle (1) and a blade (2) with a flat central section (2a) and two side wings (2b) at right angles to it. At the point where each of the wings joins the central section the blade is notched (3) with an angled edge, and the bottom edge of each wing slopes down towards the front of the tool. A second tool comprises a handle with a flat cross-piece on the bottom, measuring some 4 x 40 cm, equipped with two staggered rows of spikes. The first tool is pushed into the ground with the foot at a slight angle, breaking up the soil without disturbing plants in adjacent rows. The second one is used to compact the soil for a seed bed, with holes made by the spikes providing air and water for the growing plants.
