The device for measuring the concentration of substances dissolved in water includes a probe (500) which is intended to be lowered into the water at the point of measurement. A central measuring device (200) is carried in a boat above the probe, and includes a reservoir containing a reactant (202), a spectrometer (203) and a light source (201). These components are linked by a cable (400), which includes a light guide and a fluid conduit, leading to the submerged probe (500). The light source can emit two different wavelengths of radiation, allowing the probe to determine two different characteristics of the sampled fluid. ADVANTAGE - Probe can effect in situ measurements of pollutants, such as oxygen removing pollutants, by spectrometric analysis of water added to reactant.
