The internal combustion engine has a tubular mixture inlet (14) opening out into the combustion chamber (12), with a tubular outlet (11) for burnt gases. The device for the introduction of additional fuel consists of a system for the introduction of pressurised air into the exhaust, from an injection manifold (8), which is fed from a circulatory system (16), fitted with a non- return valve (3). A system for the recirculation of the exhaust gases is also fitted and consists of circuit (6) to lead the exhaust gas to the inlet (14). This circuit is connected to the pressurised air circuit (16) at a point downstream from the non-return valve (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - It results in a low cost method of reducing the pollution levels of the exhaust gas.
