Multilayer covering film with inner layer of ethylene-acrylic ester copolymer - intermediate barrier layer of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, outer layer of ionomeric resin, and two bonding layers for vacuum packing of food

A covering film comprises 5 layers: (a) an internal sealing film, 15-30 microns thick, of a copolymer of ethylene and an acrylic ester, (b) an internal bonding layer 5-11 microns thick, (c) an intermediate barrier film, 8-13 microns thick, of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol, (d) an outer bonding layer, 5-11 microns thick, and (e) an outer layer, 50-70 microns thick, of an ionomeric resin. The binder has good mechanical resistance and is compatible with the films. USE/ADVANTAGE - The film is esp for vacuum packing of agro-food prods (claimed), esp potted meats. The packed prods keep better eg for up to 45 days at 0-5 deg C, compared with 10 days with known films.
