The prosthesis consists of femoral and tibial components (1,2), interacting through condyle lugs (1c) and a tibial plate (2a). The femoral component has a central recess for the upper end of a vertical pivot (4) which is also equipped with a horizontal axis (3). The axis (3) co-operates at each end with a ring (6,7) which forms, together with the aperture in the pivot (4), a retainer for rollers (8), e.g. in the form of needle bearing rollers. The two rings are shaped to receive an assembly/dismantling tool, and they can be equipped with polyethylene flanges on their inner ends. ADVANTAGE - Simple, reliable and efficient improvement in joint movement.
