The installation consists of a sealed chamber (1) provided with an opening normally blocked by a hatch (2). The wall of this chamber is pierced by several pipes (3,4) so that their end joints (3.1,4.1) are in the chamber's interior. These end joints are connected together by a flexible sleeve (5) located inside the chamber (1) which is detachable and can be used for joining any two pipe ends together. A housing (8) containing water jets is suspended inside this chamber for washing the inside and a drain pipe (6) is provided at the chamber's lowest level to remove the contaminant. Use/Advantage - A sealed chamber in which the ends of pipes carrying contaminants are joined together where no pollution of the surrounding area is possible if one of the joint leaks.
