A method for founding pile caps (42) for supporting long secondary slabs (41) carrying railway tracks (30), comprises boring (33,34) the ground under and as close as possible to the tracks, and pressure grouting the bores. Caps are then constructed on the piles on a cement aggregate bed. The track between is then split up, lifted and equivalent ground volume between is excavated for the new track supporting slabs. Grout is injected at high pressure through holes in drill beside the bit after removal of spoil with very high pressure air and water jets.
