Refrigerator compressor silencer responding to flow pulses - uses mobile walls inside silencer that are driven by stepper motor in response to measured input and output pulsations
The silencer has an enclosure (20) with inlet and outlet connections. The compressor outlet is connected to the inlet of the silencer. The enclosure is divided into two chambers (24,26) by two moving walls (30,34), both of which have a passage (31,32) to allow flow through them. The walls are displaced by a stepper motor (50) that drives a shaft (40) that has screws (40-1,40-2) cut into it to displace each of the walls. The gas pulses at input and output are detected (13,15), and the signals sent to a microprocessor (100), which processes them to determine the signals that will be sent to the stepper motor to alter the positions of the internal walls. ADVANTAGE - Compact compressor silencer that alters its dimensions to adaptively attenuate fluctuations.
