Ethanolic low wines are rectified by using steam jet compressor at head of the rectification column, with vapour emitted by means of a surface exchanger operating at a low delta T. Rectification purificn. and refining columns operating at about atmos. pressure are used; in the jet compressor, the pressure of driving steam is at least 22 bar abs; the suction pressure is 0.377 bar abs. the compression pressure is 1.3 bar abs; and the ratio of the feed of aspirated vapour to the feed of driving vapour is 0.7. USE/ADVANTAGE - Appts. gives saving in energy, and condensation of ethanol vapours at the head of the column is assured. Process can be applied to rectification of ethanolic low wines obtd. by bio-conversion or chemical synthesis (claimed).
