Dust protection device for IBM PS/2 microcomputer - uses plate of similar dimensions to three and half inch disc, which is inserted in drive and has transverse pivoted shutter

The protector is formed by a plate (1) from which is pivoted a transverse shutter (2). The plate has similar dimensions to a computer disc and is inserted into the disc drive. When it is fully inserted, the computer casing tilts the shutter upward to cover the entry to the slot. ADVANTAGE - Prevents entry of dust and other airborne solids carried in suspension in ambient air into opening of three and half inch disc drive. Simple, low cost protector that reduces entry of dust into computer disc drive and thus reduces head wear and risk of corruption of data stored on disc.
