Crusher for fatty and proteinaceous grains, such as rape or sunflower, and other temp. sensitive prods. comprises: (a) a rotor (2) in the form of a squirrel cage with bars (6) acting as cutters, and (b) fixing longitudinal bars acting as countercutters (9) parallel to the rotating cutters (6). Pref. crusher has either a single countercutter (9), or two countercutters (9) located either side of the rotor (2), normally at the level of the axle (3). Drive mechanism (7,8) allows rotor to be driven in either direction. Respective positions of countercutters (9) to rotating cutters (6) are controlled by a screw (10) attached to the chasis (1) whose ends are fixed to the longitudinal bars (9) mounted between two fixed guides (12,13) forming a slide. The upper guide (13) extends upwards forming a ramp (14) directing prod. to the bars (9). USE/ADVANTAGE - Prodn. of animal feed e.g. cattle or chicken feed. Instant cracking of grains and rapid removal from crusher reduces friction. Temp. increase restricted thus reducing damage to prod. by melting of fatty material.
