Technique for demoulding a hollow composite body produced by filament winding, enabling the straight hollow body to be modified into a curved shape before stoving the component

The curved composite components are generally produced from pre-impregnated fabrics on non-recoverable moulds. The construction of a mould, in the form of several elements, enables curved components to be produced starting from a conventional filament winding. The mould is composed of several elements: solid pin, several shells surrounding the solid pin and, covering the shells, a flexible element which will receive the winding. This technique permits demoulding before stoving, the flexible part remaining integral with the winding. A bicycle rim, a bar with a wheel, and a wheelchair handrail are applications of this process.
