PURPOSE:To obtain the Al alloy sheet for a cap excellent in deformability and impact resistance and having good sealability and openability by subjecting an Al alloy contg., as essential components, specified amounts of Si, Fe and Mn to hot rolling and cold rolling and thereafter executing process annealing, cold rolling and stabilization annealing under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing a cap material made of an Al alloy thin sheet excellent in tearability in the case of opening as a cap material for a container for a drink contd. in a bottle, an Al alloy contg., as essential components, by weight, 0.1 to 0.6% Si, 0.1 to 0.7% Fe and 0.8 to 1.0% Mn is subjected to homogenizing treatment by long time heating and is thereafter subjected to hot rolling and cold rolling to work into the shape of a thin sheet. Next, the thin sheet is subjected to process annealing at 400 to 500 deg.C to regulate the size of intermetallic compounds such as (Fe, Mn)Al6 to =30mum, is thereafter cold-rolled at 30 to 60% draft into an Al alloy thin sheet having 0.25mm final sheet thickness and is subjected to stabilization annealing at 200 to 250 deg.C, by which the Al alloy sheet for a cap can be manufactured.
