PURPOSE:To reduce pressure loss, heighten collecting efficiency and improve air cleaning efficiency at low costs by imparting a surface roughness controlled to be at most the regulatory value of 70mum to the glass fiber filter paper consisting mainly of the extra fine glass fiber having an average diameter of at most 4mum and contg. the combustible of at most 10wt.%. CONSTITUTION:There is used glass fiber filter paper consisting mainly of the extra fine glass fiber having an average diameter of at most 4mum, contg. the combustible of at most 10wt.% and, in addition to these conventional features, having the + point average roughness (Rz) set forth by JIS BO601 of at most 70mum (the lower, the more preferable) on its felt surface. In order to reduce the surface roughness of this filter paper, it is preferable that the disaggregation and dispersion of the glass fiber be effected near the neutral using dispersing agent (e.g. polyoxyethylene stearyl amine, polyoxyethylene cetyl amine, etc.) and also that paper making concn. be minimized.
