PURPOSE:To obtain excellent solubility, crystallinity and optical nonlinear response of a high speed and high efficiency by forming the nonlinear optical material of a substd. low-molecular system disposed asymmetrically with the substituents of a donor acceptor. CONSTITUTION:The material expressed by formula I is used. In formula I, R1, R2 denote either of an alkyl group or hydroxyalkyl group except a methyl group and may be the same as or different from each other; X1-X4 denote any of hydrogen or hydrogen group, halogen, alkyl group, alkoxy group, alkyl ester group, alkylamide group and may be the same as or different from each other. The excellent solubility and crystallinity as well as the optical nonlinear response of the high speed and high efficiency are obtd. in this way.
