PURPOSE: To produce a titanium alloy part with improved mechanical property and ductility by subjecting a hot worked ingot of an alloy of a specified composition consisting of Mo equiv., Al equiv. and Ti to a specified heat treatment before final working. ;CONSTITUTION: An alloy ingot, which consists of 5-13 wt.% Mo equivalent, 3-8% Al equivalent and the balance Ti/impurities (Mo equivalent = Mo+V/1.5+ Cr/0.6+Fe/0.35, Al equivalent = Al+Sn/3+Zr/6+10×O2), is hot-worked into a blank by roughing down under heat. Successively, this blank is preheated to a temp. 8 above the actual β transus 2 of this hot-worked alloy before at least final working of a part of this blank. This temp. 8 is up to 50°C higher than the transformation temp. 2. And, then the is cooled down to a final working start temp. 9 ranging from the β transus temp. 2 to the α phase emerging temp. 7. The blank is preferably subjected to final working at a working ratio S:s of ≥1.5, further subjecting to solution treatment and then aging treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
