PURPOSE: To provide a pyroelectric light receiving element of high quality and high sensitivity without cracking, chipping and micro surface cracks at the time of being machined into thin plate shape by forming pyroelectric body material of a Pb compound as a main component, and adding MnO2 as an auxiliary component. ;CONSTITUTION: This pyroelectric body material is mainly composed of a compound expressed by Pb2-[Tiy(CozW1-z)1-y]1-xOn (where (n) is an optional number, and x, y, z satisfy the condition of 0.502≤x≤0.510, 0.80≤y≤0.97, 0.46≤z≤0.49), with part of Pb atom substituted by Ca atom by 20-30mol%, and MnO2 is further added by 0.3wt.% or less as an auxiliary component. At the time of manufacturing an infrared sensor 8 using this pyroelectric body material, a circuit formed of the combination of a pyroelectric light receiving element 1, a resistance 2 and a FET 3 is formed at a printed circuit board 4, and the printed circuit board 4 is soldered to the pins of a hermetic seal 5.
