PURPOSE: To surely and easily control the inserted amount of a refrigerant pipe, without the increase of labor cost and production cost. ;CONSTITUTION: To start with, a metallic pipe is cut in a definite length and a main body member 1 for an accumulator is formed, following which the end part of this member 1 is preformed in a flattened shape and an inner die 21 is inserted into the end part of this member 1. In that state, the end part of this member 1 is crushed by a forming die 10 and a sealing part is formed and at the same time, a connection opening 3 is formed by the inner die 21. At this time, when the inserted amount of the inner die 21 is made smaller than the thickness of the forming die 10, the member 1 is formed in the state in which a region of D pressed only by the forming die 10 is caused on the far side of the inner die 21. As the result of it, the part on the far side of the connection opening 3 is deformed on the inside of the member 1 and a stopper part 7 is formed. After that, when a refrigerant pipe is inserted into the connection opening 3, the inserted amount of the refrigerant pipe is made constant at all times, if the top end of the refrigerant pipe is inserted until the top end of the refrigerant pipe is brought into contact with the stopper part 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
