PURPOSE: To make fibers windable onto a comparatively long mandrel without making the size of a furnace too large by constituting an apparatus for fabricating a composite material so that a winding head moves facing a slit for introducing a fiber into the furnace and the slit extends along the whole of the furnace in the longitudinal direction. ;CONSTITUTION: In the fabrication apparatus of a composite material composed of a vitreous or glass-ceramic matrix which is fiber-reinforced by winding the fiber preimpregnated with constituents of the matrix onto the mandrel, a constitution described below is used. The apparatus is provided with a passage means of the fiber F at a partition wall of the furnace 1 which is composed of a slit 3 parallel to an axis line of the mandrel 2, a head 7 which is movable facing to the slit 3 and supplys the fiber F to the mandrel 2 via the slit 3 at a prescribed rate and tension and a means 8 for controlling a mandrel driving means and a fiber supplying means 7 corresponding to winding parameters.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
