Tissue fixation solution and how to save the animal tissues

PURPOSE: To obtain a nontoxic and inexpensive fixing liquid by using a water solution consisting of, for example, at least one type of alkanol, at least one type of diol, and at least one type of formic acid. CONSTITUTION: A fixing liquid contains at least one type of alkanol solvent constituent such as methanol or ethanol by approximately 200-800ml per lsolvent. At least one type of diol and triol that are contained in a total concentration of about 150-700ml per l solvent are used as another solvent constituent. Further, at least one type of acid such as formic acid and acetic acid is used in the total concentration of approximately 0.01-0.5mol per l solvent and water is added as a remainder of the solvent. A dissolved substance contains such mordant as metal ion salt with at least two acidation states by a concentration of approximately 0.2mol per l solvent and preferably is zinc chloride, thus obtaining a nontoxic and inexpensive organization immobilization liquid without containing mercury and formaldehyde.
