PURPOSE:To provide the subject machine not necessitating a space for disposing an energizing spring in a select jack to reduce the whole size of a needle bed by disposing a select jack-pressing means having a specific structure. CONSTITUTION:A thin plate-like spacer 20 having an elastic supporting arm 24 exhibiting an elasticity toward the bottom of the needle groove 2 and branched from the main body portion 23 is superposed on the side surface of a selector 6 in a laminated state and inserted into the needle groove 2 together with the selector 6. The selector 6 and a select jack 5 are inserted into the needle groove 2 and the elastic supporting arm 24 of the spacer 20 is brought into contact with the upper edge of the select jack 5 to lift a select jack pad 26 from the needle groove 2, thereby energizing the select jack 5, the select jack 5 being engaged with the selector 6 and being brought into contact with a support point at its lower edge in a swingable state.
