PURPOSE:To facilitate adjustment work by adjusting a head switching signal and the generation timing of a reproduced signal obtained from respective heads until respective ATF signals recorded in the both end parts of a track traced by a head are obtained together. CONSTITUTION:Under each state in which every reproducing signal obtained from plural heads 18, 19 is selectively changed over so as to be lead to a reproducing signal processing system by a head switching signal HDCKP operated at a specified period, the signal HDCKP and the generating timing of the reproducing signal each obtained from heads 18, 19 are adjusted so as to obtain each ATF signal recorded on both the terminals of each tape track. Accordingly, the head switching signal HDCKP and the generation timings of the reproduced signals obtained from the heads 18 and 19 can be automatically adjusted. As a result, an excellent head switching signal generating circuit for a helical scan system tape reproducing device which provides an easy adjusting work, can be obtained.
