PURPOSE: To easily and correctly measure the load of a mechanical press. ;CONSTITUTION: A billet 4 for a qualification, which is cut from a material whose mechanical strength is uniform and precisely finished, is pinched between the slide 2 of a press l and a bed 3, and the quantity L of its upsetting (=H1-H2) and a pressurizing force at that time, are measured by a load cell 7. Consequently, the load of the press can be calculated by a function making each element of the material quality, quantity of deformation and the working speed of the billet 4 for qualification variables.
