PURPOSE:To improve workability by turning a steel pipe and fast holding a rib not welded gradually at a spiral position by a preceding roller, using a roller holding a rib temporarily fixed into the steel pipe as a reference while welding the rib not welded by a torch. CONSTITUTION:Ribs 6 composed of previously spirally molded round bars or square bars are inserted into the tip section of a steep pipe 2, and only the opening end side being within reach is welded and fixed temporarily. The steel pipe 2 is loaded on a turning gear such as a turning roller. When the turning gear is inserted into the tip section of the steel pipe 2, a roller 4a holds the rib 6, and a pressure roller 7 is abutted against the internal surface of the steel pipe 2 between the ribs 6. When the steel pipe 2 is further rotated, a preceding roller 4a fast holds the rib 6 not welded at a specified spiral-pitch position, employing the roller 4a holding the temporarily fixed rib 6 as a reference while the rib 6 not welded is welded and treated by a torch 5.
