PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance, workability and weldability by heating a steel having a specified compsn. and by hot rolling the heated steel at a specified temp. and a specified total draft. CONSTITUTION:A steel ingot consisting of, by weight, 0.05-0.10% C, 1-3% Si, 12-18% Cr, 0.05-0.20% Al and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is heated to 1,100-1,250 deg.C to precipitate austenite phase. The ingot is then hot rolled in a temp. range of =1,050 deg.C at =70% total draft to recrystallize ferrite grains. The resulting hot rolled sheet may be heated to about 850-1,000 deg.C and cooled at about =0.5 deg.C/sec cooling rate as required. A hot rolled ferritic steel sheet having superior heat resistance, workability and weldability and suitable for use in the production of parts for an industrial furnace, a burner, etc., is obtd.
