PURPOSE:To transmit a television signal in a narrow-band by forming an expanding signal and two compressing signals from the television signal to be transmitted. CONSTITUTION:The television signal to be transmitted is made into a first signal B, a first difference signal DELTABA is formed with a second signal A, which is the signal before the first signal B for a prescribed horizontal scanning period, and the first signal B, and a second difference signal DELTABC is formed with a third signal C, which is the signal after the first signal B for the prescribed horizontal scanning period, and the first signal B. Further, two compressing signals SPBA and SPBC are respectively formed by compressing the horizontal scanning periods of the first and second difference signals DELTABA and DELTABC, an expanding signal SEAC is formed by expanding an added signal to double, which is formed by adding the second signal A and the third signal C, and the expanding signal SEAC and the two compressing signals SPBA and SPBC are successively time-division-sent respectively. Thus, the television signal can be transmitted in the narrow-band.
