PURPOSE: To correct aberration in an acoustic wave transfer medium by taking a measure of generating an aberration phase compensation applied on a transmitter and a receiver to compensate the phase of signals generated in respective elements in a converter array and using a receiver beam data. ;CONSTITUTION: Each element 12 of a converter array 11 generates burst of a vibration energy in being energized by a pulse generated in a transmitter 13. The vibration energy reflected from a subject to the converter array 11 is converted into an electric signal in the each element 12 so as to be applied on a receiver 14 via a switch 15. The transmitter 13, the receiver 14, and the switch 15 are responded to orders of an operator respectively and controlled by a digital controller 16. Then, a series of echoes are collected so as to implement a complete scanning. On the other hand, a plurality of echo signals are combined by the receiver 14 and an echo signal is generated so that the use of it generates a line in the image on a display 17.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
