PURPOSE: To protect a pool from erosion which may expose the bottom of the pool by constituting a pool main body having a slope where the water depth is gradually increased from a shoreline to an offshore line, a wave making device and a sandy beach. ;CONSTITUTION: A wave making pool comprises a pool main body 1 having a sloped body which allows a water depth to be gradually increased from a shoreline to an offshore line and a wave making device 2 installed to the offshore side of the main body 1 and a sandy beach 3 installed to shallows. The grain size of sand in an area 4 which is subjected to erosion by broken waves is maintained within a range from 5 to 70mm. The grain size of sand in the other areas is maintained within the range from 1 to 2mm. This construction makes it possible to help swimmers to enjoy the feeling of natural sandy beaches and inhibit the erosion of the erosive area 4 to a minimum and provide a wave making pool which is protected from the erosion which may expose the bottom of the pool by increasing the grain size of sand in the erosive area 4 and making equivalent the grain size of the other sand to that of natural sandy beaches.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
