PURPOSE:To detect the appearance and quality of a foamable rubber material by measuring the foaming rate of the material. CONSTITUTION:The foamable rubber material of the same amt. as the volume of the cavity 5 of a lower mold 3 is charged into a material charging port 4 and a heating plate 9 is lowered. The foamable rubber material is pushed out into the cavity 5 from an injection port 7 when a pressurizing plug 10 is fitted into the port 4. The foamable rubber material is sufficiently heated by the temp. of a metallic mold 1 at the time when the material passes the hole 7. The foamable rubber material is completely packed into the cavity 5 when the plate 9 descends completely and is superposed on the upper mold 2. The foamable rubber material starts foaming as the internal temp. thereof is gradually raised by the temp. of the mold 1. The material bulges into a passage 6 part on progression of the foaming. The displacement of the foamable rubber material in the passage 6 is, therefore, detected as the foaming amt. as it is. The displacement of the foamable rubber material is measured and simultaneously the foaming rate is calculated at this time. The correspondingly better appearance and quality are obtd. as the foaming rate is higher.
