PURPOSE:To obtain the title ink which is excellent in dispersion stability during storage and in discharge stability at the time of application, by performing mechanical dispersion of a disperse dye and water in the presence of a dispersant so as to obtain a dispersion having predetermined disperse dye particle diameter and viscosity, followed by centrifugation so as to cause solid components to be precipitated and removed. CONSTITUTION:A disperse dye (e.g., water-insoluble anthraquinone dye) and water are mechanically dispersed in the presence of a dispersant (e.g., ligninsulfonate) by means of a sound grinder etc. Thus, there is prepd. a dispersion contg. disperse dye particles having a particle diameter of 0.05-0.3mum which has a viscosity of 1-20cP. The dispersion is centrifuged under a centrifugal force of 500-2,000G, and precipitated solid components are removed. Thus, a desired ink for ink jet textile printing is obtained.
