PRODUCTION OF PHENYL 2-(FURFURYLSULFINYL) ACETATE DERIVATIVE AND PHENYL 2-(FURFURYLSULFONYL) ACETATE DERIVATIVE

摘要

PURPOSE: To enable selective and efficient production of the subject compounds which are useful as intermediates for medicines such as anti-pectic-ulcer preparation, agrochemicals and a variety of functional materials by oxidation of 2-(furfurylthio) acetic acid derivative with an oxidizing agent. ;CONSTITUTION: Methyl 2-(furfurylthio) acetate resulting from the reaction of furfuryl mercaptan with methyl chloroacetate is hydrolyzed into 2-(furfurylthio) acetic acid which is allowed to react with a nitrophenol of the formula: Ph-OH (Ph is o-nitrophenyl, p-nitrophenyl or 2,4-dinitrophenyl) in the presence of a base to give the objective phenyl 2-(furfurylthio) acetate derivative of the formula I. The derivative is oxidized with an oxidizing agent such as a percarboxylic acid to give phenyl 2-(furfurylsulfinyl) acetate of formula II and phenyl 2-(furfurylsufonyl) acetate of formula III both of which are useful as synthetic intermediates for medicines such as anti-pectic-ulcer preparation, agrochemicals and a variety of functional materials.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
