PURPOSE:To obtain an open-cellular foam of a high degree of crosslinking by mixing an olefin resin with a blowing agent, an organic peroxide, an alpha-olefin- modified silicone and an alkoxysilane and grafting the alkoxysilane onto the olefin resin in the expansion step. CONSTITUTION:A composition for an open-cellular crosslinked olefin resin foam comprising 100 pts.wt. olefin resin (A), 1-20 pts.wt. blowing agent (B) having an initial decomposition temperature which is 100-150 deg.C and is higher than the melting point of the olefin resin (A) by 20-70 deg.C and having a final decomposition temperature of 150-210 deg.C, 0.3-5 pts.wt. organic peroxide (C) having a 1-min half-life temperature of 150-190 deg.C, 0.1-5.0 pts.wt. alpha-olefin-modified silicone (D) and 0.1-5 pts.wt. alkoxysilane (E) of the general formula: RnSi(OR)4-n (wherein R is vinyl, chloro, amino, mercapto, epoxy or methacryloyl; OR is methoxy or ethoxy; and n is 1 or 2) is molded into a sheet at a temperature lower than the decomposition temperatures of the blowing agent and the organic peroxide. The sheet is heated to a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent to perform expansion and the grafting of the alkoxysilane onto the olefin resin.
