POWER TRANSMISSION DEVICE BETWEEN PRIME MOVERS OF COMPOUND PRIME MOVER FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To increase the working range of an internal combustion engine when large driving force is temporarily required in a low-speed driving range for shock relief at the time of interrupting of clutch by providing a torque converter and a clutch in series between an electric motor and the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A torque converter 2 and a clutch 2 are provided in series onto the output shaft of an internal combustion engine 1, an electric motor 4 is connected, and the output shaft of the electric motor 4 is connected to the axle of a rear wheel 5 through a reduction gear. Since the torque converter 2 is provided in series to the clutch 3, the clutch 3 is connected to operate the internal combustion engine 1 in a rotational speed range higher than medium speed at the time of requiring high output even in a low speed driving range, thus decelerating it with the torque converter 2, converting it into high torque, transmitting it to an axle, and increasing the working range largely in the low speed driving range. Since the clutch 3 is provided with the torque converter 2, it is possible to reduce an impact at the time of interrupting to the degree that it cannot be sensed.
