PURPOSE: To produce the title copolymer having a high degree of polymerization and a high function by copolymerizing an inexpensive monosubstituted acetylene with a disubstituted acetylene exhibiting a high function. ;CONSTITUTION: A monosubstituted acetylene is copolymerized with a disubstituted acetylene in the presence of a tungsten complex represented by the general formula: A⁺ [W₂H(CO)₁₀]^- (A⁺ is an alkali metal cation, an ammonium cation, an iminium cation or a phosphonium cation).
